A Brief History of the Boy Scouts of America - 2007-Present

Membership in Cub Scouts (1,687,986), Boy Scouts (913,588), and Venturing (254,259) is at 2,855,833, with total youth membership at over 4.6 million.

The Eagle Scout Award, the highest rank a Scout can achieve, was earned by a record 51,742 young men.

315 BSA members were honored in 2007 for their courageous performance of lifesaving and meritorious actions. The Honor Medal With Crossed Palms was awarded to five Scouts and Scouters who demonstrated unusual heroism and extraordinary skill or resourcefulness in saving or attempting to save a life at extreme risk to self.
